Suzie Cheel’s Studio Goes Online!

By Suzie Cheel | May 20, 2008

When I had a big studio I frequently had studio shows and sales. I no longer have that big studio and I have decided to create my studio online.

First I would like to thank the following people who have helped me along the way to get to launching this site today.

  • Ed Dale from Thirty Day Challenge for introducing me to Richard Ink and his wonderful world of handmade fountain pens The one pen per page  has been the inspiration for my online studio, Art and Beyond. I have had a static website for many years with the promise that I would up date it real soon now.
  • To Des Walsh for supporting me and last night putting in a new theme as the one I had chosen wouldn’t take large images. Now he is making videos so you can see the details of each quilt.
  • Darren Rouse for getting excited about the Art blog, when I raised it as part of my niche homework on the Six Figure Blogging course.

It has been an exciting few weeks as I have built this site, done some reflection as to how I got to where I am now. The photo collection of 15 years of running my business Suzie Cheel Handpainted Originals  is wonderful and if you hang around here, subscribe to make sure you don’t miss out on what’s new and tips from the past, you will learn and be inspired. I wrote for Textile magazine for 10 years- a series on making a living in the Textile Arts. These articles will appear here occasionally and in a monthly e-zine where I will share more of them. Subscribe now and get the first  article that kicked this series off.

Now for the very exciting news. This week only from Today until Tuesday 27th May 2008  midnight PST ( Wednesday in Australia)

For one week only.

This is a great opportunity to get one of my handpainted scarves - which I am not
making any more - or one of my art quilts.

The prices are very competitive.

For the duration of the sale only, scarves are discounted by 20-30% off the reqular
price (freight is included) for this week only and for the quilts all freight and insurance costs are
included in the price (which can represent a saving of from $60 to $300, depending
on the size of the quilt).

The sale lasts for one week only, through Tuesday, May 27th, midnight US Pacific
Time. That is Wednesday 5 pm in Australia.

After then. there will be new scarves, new art work , a weekly new work and I won’t beat myself up if I don’t do this every week

Enjoy you visit and look out for daily update over the next few days.

Silk Scarf:Blue Sea

By Suzie Cheel | May 18, 2008

Sea Blue  (SOLD)

18" x  68" (46 x 172cm)

Pure Silk- Crinkle Georgette.

Over the 15 years or so I was running my Handpainted textile business, this blue color combination, along with turquoise and purple were the most popular color combinations that I was repeatedly asked for, that galleries sold and many mothers of the bride wore.

These colors are flattering to so many skin tones, age groups and the colors of the sea and sky. The first scarf I sold on the internet many years ago, to an American , who now lives in Australia, was one of the blues!

Once when I was in Santa Fe, New Mexico in a Gallery, wearing a Handpainted woolen silk lined coat I had made, we were leaving one of the staff said: "Thankyou for your Blues!"

This Wrap in pure silk georgette, is inspired by the colors of the Australian. The wrap can be used as a sarong, a big scarf, a wrap/shawl  and when you are not wearing it it can be hung on the wall, very versatile.

This is unique, a real one off. Great for travel to as it is so light.

I have called this Pure Bliss as when I was taking the photo, I thought that is what I feel when I am by the sea. The tropics are often depicted by these colors.

It is also a great way to color your world. This was a tagline I used when I had my Suzie Cheel Handpainted Original Business.

Color Your World

By Suzie Cheel | May 16, 2008

The scarves I am selling  will color your world. I had a friend who once said, if I am feeling down I wear a Suzie Cheel Scarf.

As I am putting this site together I find old treasures: it is like the history of Suzie Cheel Handpainted Originals.

My tag line, as in the photo below, was Color Your World. I always wore clothes that made me feel wonderful and were brightly colored.

The photo is from a Mind Body Spirit Show where I exhibited.
