be-you

Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you! ~ Dr. Seuss

Are You Being True, Really True To You?

Or Are you Still Sitting On The Fence Waiting For That Magic Moment To Shine Your Light On The World?

Yesterday I painted the words above BE YOU!   As I painted I was asking myself was I really being me?  Am I really being true to me? What’s bring this up for me? Am I trying to be something and someone that I think I should/ could be?  What needs to change here? Lots of questions…………

“Waking up to who you are requires letting go of who you imagine yourself to be.” ~Alan Watts

 I am being me :

When I am painting,  when I am cooking.  When I am walking on the beach, meditating. When I am  being open and honest and not giving a care what others think. When I am listening and being still, When I am dancing. When i am being who I am here to be. When I am inspiring and empowering you and me. Now I have started this list can keep growing……….

So what has stopped me to even ask this question?

I have been working on fixing this website, as I mentioned last week and getting now where fast.  I want a magic fairy to come and create a magical site that inspires both me and you.  Plus removes all the broken bits! I have got bogged down in the detail of it all and find myself looking at lots of other sites for ideas, that continually slows me down. Then the comparison game kicks in! The KISS principal goes out the window!

On that note I am stepping away from the computer. Going to head to bed with Sonia Choquette’s new awesome book Walking Home: A Pilgrimage from Humbled to Healed. It is tapping into this being you theme for me in a big way.  Maybe a good thing. There is something that I must let go of, a change to make, that will power me forward as I am on a Journey to Joy that I will be sharing with you soon and getting bogged down in the mud, so to speak won’t have it happening.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

What do you need to let go of  to be just you? ♥

  1. I firmly believe that the more we can be ourselves, the more we will succeed in life. I say that because we are better at being ourselves than anyone else could be. Once we find our natural talents and gifts, we can become masters of those and share them with the world.

  2. Hi, such an excellent article. The questions made me think and it gave me a bright idea of who I really am. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

  3. Most people are challenged to be their authentic self, not for lack of trying but rather simply lack of understanding that that really means. On the other hand I think of you as someone who already has a good handle on her brand and purpose – it’s just a matter of translating that into something tangible for others to see.

I agree you were wise to step away for awhile, but I do have one suggestion. It might be helpful to create a tagline for your site that clearly states your purpose for the site in a few key words. This is not only a powerful branding exercise, very often the process makes things clearer by creating an overall image of how to convey that purpose to your readers beyond the words. But if something more is needed then maybe organize a little brainstorm session with a few people you trust. Sometimes throwing out ideas, even words and phrases can spark your imagination. Hang in there, you’ll come up with something that will make your heart sing. 🙂

    1. Hi Marty
Thank you I value your comments and your guidance. I got goosebumps when I read your comment as I had just come of a group coaching call with Leonie Dawson and i got to have 1 on 1 time and as a result I have a tagline I am going to use

I have known that the tagline I have been playing with were not telling people what I can do for them. it was also stoping sharing my art.
The survey I would love your input on too, when you have a few minutes has given me more clarity on what people want and where their pain is.

Right now- tagline is Creativity, Abundance and Self-Love for Wild or Wise Souls/ . Do you see yourself as a wise or a wild soul?
I am tending to Wild Soul.

Loved the synchronicity of your wisdom
      thank you
      Namaste xx

  4. Thank you for sharing Suzie. I love Dr Seuss’s “Oh the Places You’ll Go” and it’s become one of my daughter’s favourite bedtime stories. Although it’s a children’s book, I always get so much from it when I read it to her.

It’s so true that there’s no one youer than you. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught in the trap of being who we think others want us to be, especially when we’re inundated with messages and pictures from media and advertising hinting that who we are is not enough and that their product will magically make us feel better!

Being “you” is an inside job and it’s doing the things that you love and light you up.

    Sending love

    1. Hi Shanelle,
Yes the book I think is so loveable by all ages. Yes it is the outside noise that so often stops us being you, the inside job as you say is so important
      namaste xx

  5. Beautiful message, Suzie! I find myself pondering that a lot lately–holding myself to my authenticity. It was something I was thinking about as I fell asleep last night, so definitely a timely post. I think your web site and message does an amazing job of that for you, by the way! 😉

  6. Hey, Suzie, I love the list of how you are being you! I just spent the entire summer painting what the man who markets my paintings told me to do to create sales—-totally different from my real art! But I have to say that I enjoyed the summer and learned a lot, plus I made paintings that I liked, even though they were not in my “normal” very colorful style! Anyway, the show ends today and not a single painting out of over 20 paintings sold! So, after my initial disappointment, I decided that this was a nudge from God to go back to doing what I love and just do it, whether it sells or not! I feel rather relieved that I am free to do my own thing now and to really be ME!! 🙂 Thanks for a very timely post! <3

    1. Hi Jean,
your comment took me back to the time when I did corporate orders for ties and scarves or people wanted a certain design for an outfit. Stifles the heart I now know! I know now that when I paint what flows from within which was what I used to do with all the fabric I painted, the right buyers will be drawn to it. Did you ever put up pics of your paintings?
      namaste xx

      1. I totally agree that it has to come from within, Suzie! I know that now!
I have a website that is being built but you can take a peek at it here http://jeanrsampson.businesscatalyst.com/index.html

I hope it was ok to put that here—-if not, please edit 🙂
It is under construction but coming along well, I think.
Here is to painting and creating only from the heart! <3

  7. Hi Suzie.

It’s so hard to know how to shake up your website and start again isn’t it? I think you did the right thing popping it aside and getting some paper love from a book.

Thanks for your post and your painting is a bit lovely!

    Kylie

  8. Thank you Suzie, wonderful questions. I really resonated with this one: “Am I trying to be something I think I should?” On my healing journey at present I’m noticing that I’m pushing myself to heal quickly so that I can be there for others, when my healing journey is all about being there for me first. It’s interesting for me to watch myself on this journey and the more open I can be about my struggles, the more I think it will help inspire others, thank you x

    1. Yes Heather that is amazing, it is so challenging for us to put ourselves first, but until we really embrace our own love for ourselves I believe we will keep being handed the same lessons 🙂 xx

  9. I’m going through the same process, Suzie. Your questions are excellent and are exactly what we need to become more and more who we truly are.

I’ll be spending less time online and more time in the orchard and in stillness so I’m more aligned with my life purpose. I’ll still be around online, just a bit less.

Becoming who we really are seems to be a continual process. Asking these questions helps us to continually refine ourselves. Good luck getting your blog where you want it to be!

    1. Hi Sandra,
I have just come from your post, so much change going on and so many of us asking similar questions.
Today I am back on track, no more looking outside, since writing the post have more clarity, less need for perfection and I’l be doing less of what you said: Less twiddling and diddling online and less futzing with my blog. BTW love your new design so YOU 🙂
What I have come to realise that I just need to really go within, TRUST and allow me to be me! xx
