you-are-beautiful

“To accept ourselves as we are means to value our imperfections as much as our perfections.”
– Sandra Bierig

So do you feel beautiful? Can you look at yourself in the mirror and say I am beautiful and feel comfortable with all parts of you?

Today take out your journal or a blank piece of paper and some coloured pencils, felt pens or you might even like to get out some paints and write the words about and decorate it however you like . The idea is to have fun, play- your inner child will be smiling. You might like to tape this to your bathroom mirror if you have done it on paper or make 2 copies so you can stand in front of the mirror and say to yourself:

You are beautiful inside and out

Have you told yourself that you are beautiful today?  @suziecheel  Tweetable

Then after you have done this exercise journal about how you feel, and ask yourself if you believe that you are beautiful and remember that is all parts of you.  I felt my inner being smile as I said that. In a few days we will do an exercise to start to clear the parts of you that you might not like.

  1. Hi Suzie,
This is a powerful idea – it may seem corny or too obvious to some, but that shouldn’t be a reason not to try it – trying exercises just like this often end up surprising us by just how effectvie they can be!
    Thanks for the prompt!
    Cheers,
    Gordon

    1. Hi Gordon and welcome.
Yes the more we do these exercises the more our self-love and self-esteem grows and we can be more effective on the world. I look forward to your comments

  2. Dear Suzie,
I love what you are doing here with your love challenge. When I first read Louise Hay’s book, “You Can Heal Your LIfe” and she said we should stand in front of a mirror and say, “I love you” to ourselves I couldn’t do it. I felt “silly.” I believe that feeling silly was a defense mechanism I used to not delve into my lack of self-love. Now, 25+ years later I am realizing how important self-love it.
Thank you for this lovely reminder!
    xoxo,
    Angela

    1. Yes Angela,
      I felt the same and somedays I can still find it a challenge. I know the first copy I had of You Can heal your life fell apart and i had to get another copy. I have been rereading it during this challenge and there is still things that resonate for me.. I also on a clean up found some Louise Hay tapes that I am going to listen to again- who know what wisdon i will find. :}
      with love

  3. Mirror work is such an important exercise. If we can look at ourselves and simply accept, just accept, that we are beautiful…we are in a good place 🙂

It is great that you are doing a 21-day love challenge. Let’s keep the love vibes up!!

    1. Thanks Evelyn
Yes i am keeping the vibes up, somedays it can still be a challenge though. Yes accepting is such a big thing. That brought a smile to my face as U wrote this

  4. I’m good with the physical beauty. Kind of funny that I say that as I have spots of psoriasis all over my torso and on my face. It took a while to get to a point where it doesn’t bother me anymore. I look in the mirror now and look at that handsome guy looking back.

My teen years were the hardest. It was hard to go to the beach and people always asked me what it was. Now I’m comfortable with myself. If people ask what the spots are, I tell them. In any case, I can enjoy myself at the beach even though I’m covered in spots.

I think for me I just had to accept that this is just who I am, and I learned to not care what anyone else thinks. It really only matters what I think, and I think I’m pretty great.

    1. Hi Eric,
Yes learning to accept oneself and not care about how others think of you is such a hurdle to overcome. Congratualtions yes you are great 🙂 Psoriasis is a challenge have you read Louise Hay on what she says about this in You Can Heal Your Life?
