A Simple Way To Start Meditating

Today’s post has come in response to a request from Heart Whisperer Kim Stanley Lawyer when I posted the Heart Whisper Daily guidance card  Your Heart Knows yesterday in the Heart Whisper Circle.

So today when I drew the Listen Card  I knew it was time to create a simple meditation  for you and all the Heart Whisperers. Those of you who want to find a simple way to meditate each day that as Kim said:

I think you might want to have a short session about meditation. Show people that this is not an exact science and we all have our own ways to listen to our hearts. No meditation clothing required. The lotus position is not necessary. No guru, no magic, no prizes. I think a great number of people would benefit from an unveiling of how to go to the quiet place in your mind.

Then my Heart Whisper card drawing today confirmed this

In this post we are going to discover a simple way to start and maybe you fell off your meditation practise and are ready to begin again.

Meditation Should Be (according to Suzie 🙂 )

  • fun
  • simple
  • make you feel good
  • something you look forward to
  • uplifting
  • even a problem solver

Now Let’s Get Started

Today I have recorded a short meditation for you that I am calling : Allowing Your Heart To Be Calm Your Mind.

This is just one way to meditate. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing a variety of ways we can quiet the mind and tap into our hearts.  Make sure you are a member of The Heart Whisper Circle where I do live Heart Whisper Meditations and free Card Readings.

What To Do

RELAX 🙂 Get comfy – this can be sitting in a chair, lying in bed (I often meditate before I get out of bed), lying or sitting on the floor, out in nature ( I love to meditate at the beach).

Now click the start button and listen to my voice guide you. This is a 4 minute meditation to calm your mind and allow you to have a way to simply do a short meditation , especially good when you are getting into overwhelm.

I would love to hear from you in the comments on whether you found that helped you either start to calm your monkey mind.

  1. I love your thoughts on meditation. Yes, it needs to be fun and comfy and relaxing. And boy does it ever become a fantastic problem solver. Especially during walking meditation 🙂 I’ve solved more problems and come up with creative solutions while in walking meditation!

  2. That was beautiful, Suzie! The music you selected was wonderful, and your voice was peaceful and calming. I believe that everyone has a way of escaping the daily stress, but we know this practice by another name. Combine meditation, self acceptance, and listening to our heart’s whispers and we have a formula for a happier life. I choose to be happy and will try to share my happiness with those around me.

  3. Wonderful meditation advice, Suzie. Too often, I think, instruction makes it too complicated and overwhelming. I’m with you. It should be easy and fun. I believe it should be whatever you need it to be on that day. Thank you for this post! 🙂

  4. Suzie, I love how you say “Whisper to your heart and then LISTEN.” Listening is so important. Meditation is like being a state of prayer to self. How often do we pray for something and the think our prayer has not been answered because we did not listen. Great article!

  5. Hi Suzie…meditation…quite a word that invokes different responses in us all. I think we over think it and so it becomes difficult and complicated when it can be as simple as sitting in the silence for 5 minutes. I’m looking forward to the various forms of meditations you will be mentioning over the coming weeks. 🙂

    1. Hi Elle yes meditation is east to do also easy not to do as like you say we overthink it and then we think we need special cushions, altars, incense etc and it becomes a chore and we put it at the back of our mind. I know yesterday i missed my morning rituals and it wasn’t until I was going for a walk that I realised how important my morning ritual which includes meditation is . Yes 5 minutes of silence can change your life. 🙂

  6. What a great guide Suzie! I’ve tried meditating a few times but it didn’t stick, so I’ll definitely give your approach a go. What calms and rejuvenates me is getting outside with nothing but the sounds of nature. Where I live now – my new home in Oregon – makes this easier than ever since my place backs up to a forest. I love exploring the hiking trails behind my home and just being one with my surroundings. Technically it’s not meditating, but I believe the results are close. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Hi Marty. Great to read. i have been doing meditations in the heart whisper circle and discovered what i find easy is a struggle for many so this is the first in a series and what I might set as a challenge. I was going to mention walking meditation and there is also open eye meditation that I once did a course on- wasn’t for me 🙂 so what you are doing is a form of meditation , it’s all those things that make you feel good xx
