Be Releasing of What Holds You Back

Beach Inspiration: Be Releasing. be-releasing

Forgiveness is the key to letting go. Forgiveness isn’t about releasing him or her, its about releasing you!

When we let go and release:

  • the fear of what if this or maybe that,
  • the unknown
  • the fear of failure
  • the fear of rejection
  • the “I am not good enough” syndrome
  • the past
  • the old stories
  • your shadow
  • the new coaching program or product that’s sitting there waiting for the world to experience
  • the book that’s waiting to be written

and the list goes on, and on….

In the process of letting go you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself. – Deepak Chopra

Do you find letting go and releasing a challenge? I have discovered that recently I did. My mentor Marney gave me an exercise to do daily as part of my own accountability in taking action to move towards my intention. I was to release three things daily. Easy I thought until I got down to writing down each morning what I would release.

  • I started with my email, releasing myself from newsletter and lists so I would be less distracted by the bright shiny object syndrome which my friend Elle Sommer has written a brilliant post that I read today.
  • I have released files from my computer – 15gb last week that were taking up space and slowing things down.
  • I have released the structure of my book “Lucky to Be Alive” and it will be so much more exciting and useful for the reader thanks to Stephanie. This will be a joy now to write and share my healing story so it can help many others.
  • I cleared my studio which was looking like it had become a bit like a tip with no room to paint. I have released a huge gargage bag so far plus several boxes of paper has been recycled. studio-cleanup
  • I have released some of my artwork onto my new  about to be open Etsy store so I can make the energetic and creative space for all the new creations I want to paint and stitch
  • I am releasing the need to do everything myself and learning to ask more for help.
  • I am releasing a new Love You Coaching program to the world  and there is more:)
  • I am becoming easier on myself of letting go of the stuff that holds me back and stops me moving forward towards my intention.

Yes now I am enjoying releasing more and  know that the more I release the freer I will feel.

  1. Releasing is just soooo bloomin’ POWERFUL isn’t it Suzie? Creates expansiveness and if we remain VERY conscious, we get to CHOOSE how we will fill that expansiveness — with our AMAZING gifts, talents and contributions! Thanks for the mention my friend! Hugs, love and of course . . . .

    Rainbow Blessings! <3

  2. Hi Suzie –

I’ve read some great posts from The Women of Facebook today. Yours is among the top in terms of posts with impact. As I read it, I realized that I’ve been releasing stuff over the last couple of weeks. I’m releasing the parts of my career that were not serving me well – the parts that contained no joy. Thanks for helping me put a name to it.

I’ll be sure to come back and read more of your work.

  3. I love clearings like this – it always seem so daunting at the time, and during the process it can be time consuming, but the freedom, clarity and sense of openness that always immediately follows (and new opportunities!) is definitely worth it. Thanks for some tips I never thought of clearing out!

  4. Thank you for this! I’ve been feeling the stirrings of needing change and perhaps what’s stopping me from starting is decluttering my life.

  5. Dear Susie,

Thanks for sharing with us all the things you have released, that is really inspirational! Now for what I need to release, my old washing machine that leaks and has a broken door and a load of other stuff in the shed that can all go to the tip. I find as well that having a physical clear out means that I get into the energy of releasing and so then I’m ready to release things on a mental and emotional level too 😉
    Lots of love!

  6. Wow when you list the things that you are releasing it really makes me look around at the “stuff” that I am hanging on to. Some intentional but some are not. Seeing the organizing of my computer files and unsubscribing from a few newsletters as releasing puts them in a whole new light. In fact I am going to send this blog on to someone who may also benefit from it. Cheers Suzie

PS Seeing your words in sand being released back into the water was very poetic. 🙂 LOVED IT

  7. Funny how much there is to release when you start listing everything! It does seem as if some of the releasing is negative, burdensome things that hold us back (clutter, negative thoughts, distractions) and some of the release is positive–freeing ideas to be developed, projects to take shape. Releasing the negative is SO wonderful, getting that free feeling. And then releasing the positive is so energetic, to move forward with creativity. This is inspiring me for today!

  8. I have just recently let go of worrying what my traditional parents will think about me following my creative dreams. I have given myself permission to do what makes me happy, regardless of what other people think. It feels very liberating and I’m happier than I’ve ever been before.

I am really struggling with letting go of some anger with someone very close to me because she hurt me and will not acknowledge or apologize for it. She simply want to act like life continues as it did before the incident. I’m really struggling with this and I feel like it’s holding me back, sort of like I’m tied down by bitterness. I need to work on this so I can move forward.

    1. Hi Elizabeth and welcome,
That is wonderful that you are following your creative dreams, as you are finding when we do this we experience freedom.

I understand that releasing feelings of anger can be challenging. The more you love and accept yourself the easier releasing of anything that doesn’t serve up becomes easier.

Holding onto anger is like holding onto fear and blocks the love that is within.
You could start by writing everything down that you feel is blocking you from letting go of the bitterness.

  9. Suzie, I do find releasing and letting go to be a bit of a challenge.

Sometimes it’s something small like letting go from personal items that have just piled up and have become clutter.

However, I have found that it’s initially hard, but it always gets easier in the end.

It’s also liberating and I feel that it allows me to focus my energy on more important things that are coming up, instead of looking back and reflecting on the past.
