Field of Flowers

Life is like a beautiful flower
Each day as unique
As each petal of each.
The stem ever lengthening
In a strenuous effort to reach the nurturing rays of the sun.
The roots ever deepening
To draw life from the earth.
The swaying fields ever entrancing
To the watchful eyes of youth.
Looking out over a field of wildflowers-
Each one an individual blossom
Slowly opening, revelaing to the world
It’s true beauty
Petal by petal.
Step by step.
Each flower resembling its species
But, in truth, a rare individual.
No two are exactly alike
Some have thorns
Or rough edges
Others are spicy
Or sweet.

How hard it is to chose just one
To put a smile on your face.
One whose individuality touches your heart
And warms your soul

And stands out
In a field of flowers

  1. Suzie, like I said on facebook, I totally love this one and you have so much beauty inside of you. I am glad you are bringing it out and sharing it.
Love the bright colors, various blues in the sky, love the blue on the right and the wonderful light shining through on the left and the white highlights in the middle.
This one is exquisite and one of my favorite ones so far.

    Love the poem too.

Keep up the good work of expressing the beauty within.

    Best to you!

  2. Beautiful painting, Suzie! Thanks for prompting me to consider what is making today unique — great question.

** We took my husband’s granddaughter to her second Easter Egg Hunt — cute!
** My husband and I enjoyed a lovely brunch together afterwards

As special as those two moments were, I need to give more thought on making today special and unique. Gotta go…..off to create those moments! 🙂

  3. Suzie,
I think this is my favourite picture up to now.
    It just makes me smile.
Today has been unique in that:
    – it’s the day we remember 96 people who lost their lives 22 yrs ago (they all came from my hometown)
    – it’s the day I heard my friend’s baby has died
    – It’s the day I am grateful for what I have here and now
    – it’s the day that I realised that ordinary people are doing the most extraordinary things and that I can do those things too
    – It’s the day that I push myself just that little bit more to get my message out into the world
    – It’s the day that I made some important decisions about my future
Thank you for the space to share these things Suzie
    much love

    1. Hi Heather,
I love what you have written and I had no idea both when I painted P8 and found this poem that it would be so inspiring. I t reminds me of you post about going on a holiday- we so often don’t take the time to be still and reflect and dream. Like the painting it all colours our worlds and creates ripples of change
      love and peace

  4. Today has been unique for me, because I have made today completely for me and nobody else. Working on exactly what I want to work on, doing exactly what I want to do. I think this is such an important thing to do, even if you only have time to do it once in a while. It helps to put your life and what you want to accomplish back into perspective, especially after a stint of wondering when the “me” time is going to get here. 🙂

    1. Hi Krissy,
How wonderful that you have had a “ME” day, what you have written here is both inspiring and so important as you say. Maybe this is a time we all can schedule into our diary at least once a month. I know that this prescription series I am doing is definately ME time each morning- to have a whole day is something else. When will you have you next ME time?
